The teacher understands the central concepts, tools of inquiry, and structures of the discipline(s) he or she teaches and creates

learning experiences that make these aspects of the discipline accessible and meaningful for learners to assure mastery of the

content.

Artifact Name: Myth Busters Assignment

Date: October 2019

Course: EDUC 224 Intro to Scientific Inquiry

Description: In this assignment I chose an episode of the TV show "MythBusters" to review and write about. After reviewing the episode, I wrote a summary of the investigative process used in the show. I also explored and described the different concepts involved in the investigation.

Rationale: My understanding of InTASC Standard #4, Content Knowledge, was best shown through the Mythbusters Assignment. This assignment allowed me to search for the central concepts of the Mythbusters episode and list their tools of inquiry used in the written portion of this assignment. We were allowed to choose which episode we did our assignment over therefore, it was made more meaningful and accessible to me. The episode demonstrated how we as students were to use tools of inquiry in our own experiments.

Artifact Name: Final & Midterm Projects

Date: December 2019

Course: EDUC 224 Intro to Scientific Inquiry

Description: For both the Final and Midterm projects I conducted experiments and collected data on a selected topic. Further, I supplied research surrounding concepts seen throughout the experiments.

Rationale:  To show my understanding of InTASC Standard #4, I chose my Final and Midterm Scientific Inquiry Projects. Both projects required that I show a mastery of the content by explaining my understanding of the central concepts and tools of inquiry that were used in each experiment. For the Final Project I was to then present my findings as another way of showing mastery in this particular assignment.
